SPECIAL assistant to the president Anton Lagdameo is reportedly on his way out of the Marcos government.

A Newsweek Malacañang source has intimated that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is disappointed that Lagdameo failed to deliver much-needed votes to ensure the win of the senatorial candidates of the “Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas” slate in Mindanao.

The source, who wish to remain anonymous, said the ongoing revamp of the Marcos administration is supposedly targeted at removing Lagdameo and his henchmen in Mindanao, including Leo Magno, the current head of the Mindanao Authority (MINDA).

“The President is disappointed, in fact, even angry, that his candidates lost, especially in Mindanao. Now that SAP Lagdameo has submitted his resignation letter, his removal is inevitable,” the source said.

The source added: “We were told that the revamp is actually targeted at Lagdameo and Leo Magno because the duo dismally failed to deliver the votes in Mindanao, and the President is very angry about it. Since he didn’t want to sever ties with Lagdameo, the call for courtesy resignation is meant to give him a graceful exit and spare him the embarrassment of being fired.”

Lagdameo has submitted his courtesy resignation after the President last week directed all Cabinet secretaries and Cabinet-level officials to hand in their resignations to give him a chance to regroup his administration.

The President made the order after only 6 of the 11 Alyansa candidates won in the May 12 senatorial contest.

The President is also frustrated that the duo failed to unseat the Dutertes in Davao City despite massive election funding to ensure that Palace allies win the May 12 local polls.

“Lagdameo and Magno painted a picture that Malacañang would win in Mindanao, including in Davao City. But we all saw the poor results of their candidates. The Garcias, Camposes and Nograleses lost in their respective bids against the Duterte children and allies,” the source said.

This, the source said, was the final straw.
